International Online Courses — KazNU’s Entry into the Global Education Space
In the 2024–2025 academic year, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University launched a major initiative to develop international online courses. This project aims to globalize the university’s educational content and make it accessible to international students.
KazNU’s Academic Council approved a roadmap for licensing online education and creating international courses. These courses will be offered in English, Turkish, Russian, and Chinese, and will meet global standards. They will be hosted on platforms such as Coursera, edX, and FutureLearn. Digital Transformation — KazNU’s New Educational Model
In the 2024–2025 academic year, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University deepened its digital transformation, elevating the educational process to a new level. The university is systematically integrating artificial intelligence, big data, and online learning tools into its academic programs, forming a comprehensive digital education model (https://farabi.university).
At the start of the academic year, KazNU’s Academic Council presented its digitization strategy. Key topics included interactive syllabi, recognition of informal learning, certification of professional competencies, and licensing for online education. Regulations governing the educational process—such as academic policies and final assessment procedures—were updated to include guidelines for AI integration.
KazNU’s IT infrastructure was modernized, and the Moodle platform was upgraded to meet current standards. This enables students and faculty to manage learning materials efficiently, automate assignment evaluation, and personalize learning trajectories.
The Preparatory Department is actively involved in the digital transformation. Faculty members developed events on “Digital Literacy” for prospective students and trained them to use online platforms. Farabi World” — A Dialogue Platform for Young Scholars and Students
In spring 2025, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted its traditional international scientific conference Farabi World, dedicated to students and young researchers. This event serves as a key platform for enhancing the university’s scientific and innovation potential. Participants included students, master’s and doctoral candidates, and young scholars under the age of 35 from Kazakhstani and international universities and research institutes (https://farabi.university) .
The conference’s primary goal is to support young researchers’ scientific ideas, connect them with the global academic community, and foster a culture of scholarly dialogue. This year, international participants presented in various thematic sections, covering topics such as digital transformation, green economy, historical memory, legal modernization, and social inclusion.
KazNU’s Academic Council awarded grants and special prizes for the best presentations. Additionally, the conference proceedings were published with an international ISBN, enabling young scholars to enter the academic publishing sphere.
The Preparatory Department made a notable contribution to the conference. Its students actively participated and achieved high results. Faculty members guided them in research preparation, encouraged participation in section meetings, and supported successful project defenses. The department also organized training sessions on academic writing, source management, and presentation skills—providing tangible support for young researchers’ first academic steps.

The Preparatory Department is actively engaging students with scientific interests, encouraging them to participate in research projects. The department organizes seminars and training sessions to enhance research literacy and introduce students to scientific thinking and methodology — laying the foundation for future researchers. Faculty members also lead their own research initiatives and have achieved notable success.
KazNU hosts active scientific clubs and startup incubators for students. These platforms allow students to present their projects and participate in international conferences. Several startup groups have been established to foster innovation and entrepreneurial thinking within the university.

Cryptology” — A New Academic Program at KazNU
In the 2024–2025 academic year, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University launched a new academic program titled Cryptology. This modern discipline integrates information security, mathematical modeling, and data encryption. The introduction of this program reflects KazNU’s commitment to aligning its academic offerings with labor market demands. Students enrolled in Cryptology will gain in-depth knowledge of encryption algorithms, cryptographic protocols, blockchain technologies, and data protection systems. Post 2: KazNU’s Omsk Branch — A New Stage in International Integration
In September 2025, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University will officially launch its branch in Omsk, Russia https://farabi.university). This initiative marks a new chapter in educational cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia. Under an agreement with F.M. Dostoevsky Omsk State University, the KazNU branch will operate in the areas of education, research, and cultural exchange (https://farabi.university).
The opening of the branch not only enhances KazNU’s international reputation but also promotes the Kazakhstani education model abroad. Joint undergraduate and graduate programs will be developed, and a dual-degree system will be introduced. Additionally, collaborative laboratories and research centers will be established to support joint scientific projects.
The Preparatory Department is actively supporting this initiative by developing adaptation courses for international applicants. 11 наурыз күні Жоғары оқу орнына дейінгі дайындық кафедрасында аға оқытушы С.А. Нусупбаева ұйымдастыруымен ТДМ 16 (Тұрақты даму мақсаты 16) аясында «Заңға бағыну – азаматтық мәдениеттің көрсеткіші» тақырыбында ашық кураторлық сағат өткізілді.
ТДМ 16 – Біріккен Ұлттар Ұйымы қабылдаған Тұрақты даму мақсаттарының бірі болып табылады. Бұл мақсат бейбіт, әділетті қоғам құруға және тиімді, ашық институттарды қалыптастыруға бағытталған.
Іс-шара барысында шетелден келген қандас тыңдаушыларға заңға бағынудың азаматтық мәдениеттің маңызды көрсеткіші екені түсіндірілді.
