KazNU holds meeting on Youth Rights and Legal Responsibility

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an educational meeting focused on young people’s legal awareness and civic responsibility. The event was held under the theme “Youth, Law and Order: Rights, Responsibilities and Civic Responsibility.”

The meeting was organized as part of the work of the “Erkindik Rukhy” Youth Rights Commission under the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Representatives of the National Center for Human Rights in Almaty, the city’s Youth Policy Department, the Prosecutor’s Office, and the Police Department took part in the event, together with university students.

Bakhytzhan Omarov, Member of the Board and Vice-Rector for Social Sustainable Development, welcomed the participants. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of improving young people’s legal knowledge and developing a strong legal culture. He noted that young citizens should understand their rights and responsibilities, follow the law, and be aware of their responsibility to society.

During the meeting, experts explained the main rights and duties of citizens, different forms of legal responsibility, ways to protect violated rights, and procedures for contacting government institutions.

Special attention was given to digital security and modern online threats. The speakers discussed cyber fraud, the involvement of young people in illegal schemes through social networks and messengers, dropper activities, and cyberbullying.

The participants also discussed preventing drug trafficking and other forms of illegal activity. Government representatives provided practical advice on how young people can identify potential risks, make responsible decisions, and avoid becoming involved in unlawful schemes.

The event concluded with an open question-and-answer session. Students had the opportunity to communicate directly with experts and receive answers to their questions about law, rights, and civic responsibility.
